let me just start this off by saying ticket master is not the worst ticketing site, but if you thought ticketing couldn't get worse than ticket master, you thought wrong.
for some reason i thought getting tickets in Korea would be easier and less complicated than it is with ticket master in the U.S. little did i know... aside from my ARC experience, i think this stressed me out the most out of everything i have done in Korea.
my friends and i went to a PC cafe for the first time because we heard that they have good internet and that was where most locals did their concert ticketing. everything was overwhelming and overstimulating from the get-go. we were worried that tickets would sell out before we could buy them, worried we would not be able to figure out the PC cafe because of the language barrier, and worried because we have never used global interpark.
i was especially intimidated by global interpark for some reason. in my opinion, it is better than ticket master only because it has an identity verification feature that prevents any scammers and scalpers. it also does not allow users to resell tickets. additionally, you're allowed to cancel your ticket for free and get a full refund up to a certain date and time if you change your mind. however, those are the ONLY reasons i like it more than TM. otherwise it sucks just as much and here's why:
first of all, there are two different version of interpark. there's the regular one and then there's the global one for people with non-Korean passports. i didn't have an issue with this and actually thought it made sense until i found out that global interpark was worse for ticketing than the regular one was. basically global interpark users get second priority after regular interpark users over tickets.
second, the website is rlly buggy sometimes..... and i mean like rlly buggy....
the reason this was my second biggest stressor was because we successfully secured enhypen concert tickets for day 1/2 before i tried to secure more tickets for day 2/2, to which i was unsuccessful. i spiraled....
don't get me wrong, i was grateful for 1 day and didn't mind that i didn't get day 2 at first. what bothered me was that i kept trying and it wouldn't work, but i couldn't figure out what the problem was. this worried me because i knew i wanted to attend other artists concerts in the future, but i was worried that i wouldnt be able to because of this issue. the thought of not being able to see my favs while i'm literally in korea made me not want to eat the whole next day. that's how stressed (and maybe a little dramatic) i was.
i tried everything. different laptops, different accounts, different payment methods, different log ins on different devices. you name it, i tried it. at first i thought it was a wifi issue because it worked for a little bit that way but nope. i was able to eventually secure day 2 concert tickets for enhypen and other events but it would still occasionally bug out and not let me make purchases. when i tried securing concert tickets for seventeen, i was almost not able to at the PC cafe because of the bug, which is when i realized it was an account/global interpark issue. i actually accepted my defeat before even trying for seventeen concert tickets so i was mentally prepared if i didnt get them and my friends did lol but thankfully i secured them and im grateful for all the events i have been able to attend.
honestly, i am not sure what has changed since then, but i have been able to secure concert and event tickets without issue after that time. i still get that anxious feeling when im checking out, but so far so good. just know that if you are in the same boat as i was in, it gets better and it's not the end of the world.
